Diesel vans????

Post by biggreenoger »

So from what I see is there really only one successful diesel swap into an astro/safari? No one else out there hungry for massive torque and great mileage?

Most of us are more than happy with a TBI or Vortec 350 swap. Works great in this size vehicle.

Well I guess then I should start with the beginning . I saw a lifted 4x4 Astro van in some ad, and had to build one my self. So first find a clean van cheep----- not so easy! My '99 GMC Safari with a bad engine picked it up for $700.00.
Keep track now.

Next find what other trucks share the same wheel base. None. But ever so close that I can make it work. My 1980 K5 Blazer 4x4 after it lost the pickup truck cab and bed that had been hacked onto it. $100.00
Image
Well the beat old small block 305ci, Th350, Np208 just won't do it for me. sold them for $250.00 and the engine was locked up. Need MORE POWER! so

Meet More Power, '94 5.9 6bt Cummins with 47RH trans and a Np205 divorced transfer case. $3500
