Delco Aux Plug (Finally!)

This is a diagram explaining the wiring to the remote-mounted AUX cassette or CD in many late-model GM vehicles...

You can use this input to feed the radio a signal from other outside AUX sources, such as MP3, mobile video, cellular, etc. You just need a couple relays!

This post will include the basic pinout for the plugs.

The diagrams below show the position of the wiring, here are the colors:

A - Blue >> ACC w/30-second turn-off delay
B - Gray >> Dimmer 12v-0v
C - Bare w/sleeve >> Grounded Signal Shield
D - Green >> Right Signal
E - Orange/Black >> Left Signal
F - Tan >> Audio Common (Thanks Jeff!)
G - Black >> Chassis Ground
H - Green >> Data Bus
J - Orange >> Constant 12v

Please note that there are two green wires. They are not interchangable!

Hello,
This is the only post i can find dealing with adding an aux input for an ipod to a stock headunit. Has anyone done this mod? Can anyone display a diagram of what is needed and how to wire it up?
Thanks

great post and diagram, thanks.

For me, as I had an aftermarket head unit, I used the RCA jacks for the remote CD changer. I bought a RCA jack to iPOD dock cable and it works great.

Are the diagrams the ones for the plugs?
How about the relays you mention?
Just got a little lost when you mentioned the relays. . . 8-[

there are people on eBay that are selling modded factory radios for the Astros that do not have the theaft lock and have the AUX input already installed. If you get one from them its just plug and play to install it in place of your factory unit.

I was going to get one from them but i already had an aux capable head unit new in the box sitting at the house so i used it instead.

Click Here: http://db.tt/cXYRpOUp It's in my Dropbox.

It is a complete? wiring diagram for an 03 Astro Van. Don't think much of the basic stuff (radio) has changed.

Good Luck and use at your own risk. Note: File size is 6.75 mb

 What GM Part Number the nine-pin shell? I am currently considering three flavors of 1 Factory Radio Cat. No. 638.01007C AM/FM/Compact-Cassette receivers with Dolby Laboratories Noise Reduction Type B (all professional remanufactures of General Motors P/N 15757047 as used in the 1996-2005 Chevrolet Astro LS/LT and GMC Safari SLE/SLT/SLZ with Deluxe AM/FM/Cassette Receiver and Eight Speakers, RPO UL0) as upgrades from my current (as of December 2019) General Motors P/N 16180215 (as used in the 1996-2005 Chevrolet Astro base and LS and GMC Safari base and LE with AM/FM/Cassette Receiver and Six Speakers, RPO UM6). I've partially deciphered the Circuit Numbers as an aid:

A: 43 - 1.0 LBL >> +Vcc Radio ("HOT IN ACC OR RUN")
B: 8 - 0.5 GY >> Illumination
C: 150 - bare braided Cu >> Signal Shields
D: ??? - 0.8 DGN >> RT Audio, Line-Level
E: ??? - 0.8 OR/BK >> LT Audio, Line-Level
F: ??? - 1.2 TN >> Audio Common
G: 150 - 1.6 BK >> -Vss Power Common
H: ??? - 0.5 LGN >> Data Bus
J: 340 - 0.8 OR >> +Vcc Memory ("HOT AT ALL TIMES")

PS: There are MANY to choose from.. but many of the similar models have issues.
This one highly rated and works!

PSS: This has an aux jack too, as well as plays USB and micro SD sticks
