No heat as in blower stopped or there is cold air only?

If it's the fan that stopped, blown fuse, resistance or motor. If the air comes out cold, low coolant level (very) or blocked heater core. Or, vacuum hose cracked, though I think that's more an issue of where the air comes (or doesn't come) out.

join the club, i had no ac two years ago, paid some ridiculous amount to have it fixed, worked awesome all summer, then the first time i went to use the heat the blower stopped, i get hot or cold air no problem but it doesnt come out of anywhere but the dash defrost vent. if you are driving for a while its fine but initial warm up and cool down takes a while.

I have had this happen before and this may be your problem as well.
There is a single wire that plugs into the blower motor that comes from the resistor block.
This wire needs to carry up to 25 amps and can cause problems. Disconnect this wire and see if you have power there. It may just require some cleaning up and reconnecting.
If you do have power here and you are unable to get the motor working, you can be satisfied that it is your blower motor that is pooched.
