I have a V8 equipped Astro, and it is getting a re-power very soon, I have finished collecting parts for the new engine: a healthy stealthy 472 big block. Watch for the build up thread coming soonto a bulletin board near you.

my '98 LS1 is still going strong. The change to 3:73 gears and wider 60 series tires along with a Hypertune lost me a little mileage but it still is 2 mpg better than my other stock V6 '98.

Yep, the 305 is still pushing around my 89 Astro. But the engine and the transmission both are not well. Hmmm, both of these items were rebuilt by "professionals". There's a lesson to be learned here.

Rob, I've found that this late in life, we know more than we think and it becomes very hard to find anyone who can do anything right the first time. I don't care if it's building a motor installing sheetrock, cutting the grass or painting,,there ain't anyone out there who'll pass the test. Latest case, I told the painter we hired to repaint the kitchen to go around and look at what I had painted, which was the rest of the interior, and if he couldn't do as good a job to walk,,said he could,,,NOT, about to be fired and I'll just paint the rest of the kitchen myself.
Only problem with winding up doing all this crap yourself is, we're running out of time bud.lol :muhaha:

Ain't that the truth, Larry. It still freaks me out to have to factor in my mortality when considering a big project.

And wait a minute! I finally understood what the question of this thread was...and:
1. Everybody knows that you can't put a V8 in an Astro; it won't fit.
2. Why would you even bother to try?
3. If an Astro was supposed to have a V8, GM would have done it.

Yep, those were the statements that I heard while I was installing the 305 into my 89.
