Back from the brink....

Post by TrickyTreeonTour »

Hello everyone! After much procrastination we've decided to keep "Murray" our 1998 AWD LT with 298k from the knackers yard... I guess when you have the astro bug you have the astro bug! So '"the troublesome one" (as my missus calls it) is currently in the garage undergoing a '20 year service' and we are investing in a new engine (previous one head gasket blown, oil pump leaking), new gearbox (high and low slippage, random gear changes and then no gear changes) and various fun upgrades a coming.... I'll keep you posted!

Hi,

That is a true classic Astro. I really like the green / gray color.

It should be great with new engine and Transmission.

Congratulations to Murray for not taking one behind the ear at close range. I just love these vans! I'm currently looking down south for a solid body to transfer all the mods Ive done to my 99. Despite all my good intentions, salt rot has taken hold. I'm not going down THAT rabbit hole. Let's keep em roll'!!

Nice looking van! Looks like it's worth saving and keeping!
Everything is fixable, and when they are in nice shape, then it's worth doing.

Welcome from South Florida!
