replacing front hub

And I just had this all apart ](*,)

I've got a little play in the R front wheel bearing; Moog $173 or Delco $368???? Or Timken??
1998 AWD/4WD
4" lift, 31x10.50's, NP 242j/c hybrid, 4.10 gears, S10 front disconnect, rack & pinion steering, trans cooler, rock sliders, ARB fridge, house battery and 100w solar, swing out rear rack with foldout camp table, bed and passenger swivel chair

Decisions-Decisions. I have replaced three hubs in the last five years and have come to the conclusion that aftermarket sucks. OEM is pricey as hell but they do seem to last. The issue is these vans are getting old and are we trying to keep them forever. If your answer is forever then go OEM. If not then pick your poison. Low budget will last a couple of years. Timken and Moog I have no personal experience with but one would expect a fair return on your investment there.

Well, not forever, but maybe another 100k (130 now). [-o< I ordered the Timken from Rock and hearing your report, glad I did! That and some expensive new shocks and bye bye 6 bucks. If that all goes another 100k, I'm OK with that!

Yup it goes quick don't it!?! My OEM's lasted 160k before they started moaning. I threw on a set of cheap assed who knows what's and got 10k before one of them failed. A set of Timkens are probably next even tho I hear they are no longer made here. Same with rotors. Done with pedal pulsing right after an install. I really need to get tightened up so's funding can head toward the np236 and the cast iron front diff waiting on limited slip sitting under the shed. Hey if it was easy EVERYONE would be driving cool assed vans like us right? That's what makes us "special" :dunce:

got the Timken hub from Rock Auto today; FWIW, says "Made in USA" on the outer race.

Replaced the hub in short order and the anti lock light that has been lit for a couple of years went out! Oh and BTW, on my 98 the axle nut is 36mm not 35.

"FWIW" it's worth a lot to me when the bright shiny's right out of the box from whoknowswhere snaps in half the first time you stomp on the giggle pedal =D> :usa: =D>

well... 4.5 years and 40,000 miles. OEM went 130,000..... How can the OEM be that much better? Both made in USA

WOW! that is a long time follow-up, several years. Things aren't made like they used to be for sure, 40.000 miles not bad, or good either.
Just replace it with the best and go on ahead.
