After replacing the encoder motor on the transfer case I've been driving the van to check for other problems. From a stop (low speeds) the van exhibits a low speed shudder that increases with speed until it's either not noticeable or goes away. Happens when slowing as well. No odd noises or pulling to either side. The PO put new tires on the front prior to my purchasing the van and they are the same make as the rear (Geolanders). Could the new/old tires be causing slip/stick in the TC? I have not checked the fluid in the TC either. Van has 88000 miles. I have not noticed this condition while turning as my Vette does at low speeds (in need of rear diff fluid change). Could not find anything similar through search either here or on other forums. Suggestions to diagnose? I'm new to these things after many years of FWD VWs.
Thanks,
George

Re: Low speed shudder 05 AWD
I would replace the Auto Trac 2 fluid in the transfer case first thing. At 88k it probably is original.

Yeah, seems like a good idea. Gonna Google where to get.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Low speed shudder 05 AWD
Most of the time the only place to get it is a GM dealer. Our local NAPA caries it, but they buy it from the local GM dealer. I just bought 2 quarts at a little over $10 a quart.
