Test Lifting 0-2-4 inch with pics

Post by Lumpy »

I took a bunch of photos of my 89 on the driveway at
stock,
2" lift and
4" lift.

Simply put them up on jack stands for the photos. Nothing done to the suspension.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure I'll do an Overland 4" lift.
I don't want to switch brakes and all that. And I
want to keep the U joints something like happy.

I see you've done an Overland 4". Happy with yours?
Any suprizes?

Got lots of penetrating oil and breaker bars.
No impact wrenches. For some odd reason, seems
really hard to find an 18mm wrench. I've got 17s and
19s overflowing my tool boxes. I may have to break down
and buy an expensive single wrench.

You were on Leave it to Beaver?
No, I was on on CHiPs. That Beaver Lumpy
was Frank Bank.

Not sure if you seen my lift thread? But I just reread it,and it will answer most of your questions.

Funny thing is I also had to hunt down a 18mm, also without air tools! ](*,)
I actually am considering a major parts swap of lift, torsion bars, etc. over to the'95.
Not sure how your '89 shorty install would be different from my '94? Do you have steel leafs already? Out of curiousity, what part of the world are you at? Don't forget the pics! :D
Good Luck with the lift!

How was it using breaker bars and ratchets and what not
instead of an air impact tool?

My 89 has the single rubber coated cardboard tongue depressor springs in the rear
so that will bump up the cost of the lift by 5 bills or so. No torsion bars,
RWD only.

I'm in that place where it gets DOWN to about 100 degrees F around 2am
during the summer.

But hey! It's a dry kind of heat!

Well it didn't help that I picked the hottest day of the year to start with. Like you mentioned, lots of penetrating oil & good 'ol fashion grit! Plus I live in the rustbelt!

Really sold, not just the extended "for sale"? I don't see any note on the website, got a link to any news?

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the thread in the general forum. That's what I get for reading bottom-up...

2003 Astro AWD Astrolander/ZMB - GTRV Top Transplant, 4" OLV Lift, NP233 T-case, evolving interior
