Coolant Temp. Sensor??

Post by MOlynyk »

Hi,

I've got an 86 Astro Class C Motorhome 4.3 V6.
Problem is my temp. idiot light will not turn off. It flickers on and off and will be on or off with no rhyme or reason. Even after sitting all night, the temp. light will still come on right away leading me to believe that the sensor is faulty.
I would like to know it's location.
If anyone can send that info please, that would be great. This is a problem that has just started with no problem with the light before.
This vehicle does not have gauges, just idiot lights.
I would also like to know a location on the block where i can thread in a temp. gauge.
thanks.

The Coolant temp switch is located on the driver side between the center and rear cylinders (4 and 6 ?) exhaust manifold. Check the wiring to make sure it isn't shorted out.
