2005 Astro van conversion to AWD

Post by greg2002 »

Hi there...... is there a company out there that does Astro van conversion to AWD ? It's an 2005 with only 70K miles. Last time I took my ATV out to the desert I got stuck in the sand !! I'm in San Diego.

Any help is appreciated.

Highly unlikely since they've been discontinued for 20 years.
It's not that hard to swap in an AWD chassis though, if you're mechanically inclined. Paying to have a shop do it is going to cost more than the vehicle is worth though.

Yeah, I do understand the the age vrs. cost issue. That job would be way beyond me. After I got home from that trip I began looking around for a crew cab 4x4 pickup, which would solve my problem, but I do love my Astro van ! It's the 3rd one I've owned, and when they stopped making them I sold my current car and searched for the lowest mileage Astro I could find, and it's the last year, the best one, so I'm hesitant to let it go.

It's going vary wildly, and I think half the shops will turn you down right away.
You're going to have to bring the vehicle to a few shops local to you, and hear it from the horses mouth.
