Junkyard hitch ID

Post by slim724 »

didn't find much info on draw-tite's website, all the hitches look a little different than this one. I pulled the hitch from gen1 ext cargo, all the bolt holes appear to match up on my 1999 passenger van, trying to figure out what class it is

The one sticker says "V-5" on it, so that's my guess.

going off the tow ratings which are the max for our vans it is a class 3 hitch. It is nearly identical to the class 3 hidden hitch that I put on one of my vans a few years ago.
1999 Safari Touring edition.
trailer tow pack with a 3:73 posi
Bucket bench seats, Rear heat, Rear Airconditioning.
teal green
300 000 kms
AirRide air bags in the rear to fix soft stock suspension.
Onboard aircompressor to make it all work nice.

It is not a weight distribution style hitch it is a weight carrying ball mount style hitch. There are no stabilizer bar mounting brackets.
Due to the lack of stabilzing bar mounting brackets you would go by the 3500lb load rating and the 350lb tongue weight.
If it accepted stabilizer bars then, yes you could tow a 6000lb trailer but this hitch is only designed to haul 3500lbs with 350lb of that 3500lbs on the ball.

The 350/3500 rating is the max for a class 2 hitch. \:D/

Yes and no. True it does not have the mounts for the WDH bars. It does however accept a hitch head that is part of a WDH. Hence the double rating.

From the Draw-Tite website...Linky. Check the WC/WD capacities listed.

Look for one with sway control built in. Some examples:

Reese SC

Eqal-i-zer

These are just 2 examples.
