Hey guys, I'm looking to change the stock SEALED BEAM grill on my '99 Astro cargo van into a GMC Safari Grill. So, just to make sure I did not misread:
The GMC SAFARI GRILL should BOLT ON to an ASTRO? Is that correct?

skippy wrote:Yes it will bolt in place of the astro grill , when lockdoc put the newer nose on his now my 92 astro he first put a 95 astro nose on it & then switched to the better looking safari grill & lights .

Hey guys, any chance you can re-post the pics? I'd like to see what I'll be up against before I take the plunge and splurge on this.
Thanks!

I know the grill itself doesn't have more than maybe half a dozen screws on it. Can't speak for a passenger van, but I /think/ it's the same. I could prolly pull mine in 5 minutes if it wasn't so dang'ed cold out ;P

its funny that this thread is back up..i had forgotten about it. Back when it was first posted I was only driving pre 95 Stros with the old front end. But this is the EXACT swap I want to do on my 2004 Astro. Safari grill with the billet insert!

TO answer a question. If you are going to swap a sealed beam Astro grill for a sealed beam Safari grill, it should be a direct swap. If you want to switch to the composite headlights you will have to alter the headlight wiring and get the Safari trim panels as well i believe.
I have a ban hammer and I ain't fraid to use it!
