31s and stock alum wheels...

i did a search and came up with nothing..i have a 95 AWD i just ordered the 4 in lift. i plan on running 31s. my question is can i run a 31x10.5x15 tire on my stock alum wheels???

BF Goodrich says the 31" All Terrain TA KO need a 7-9" wide rim. According to the post above the stock rims are 6 1/2" wide. Might work, but probably not recommended.

From what I've read, generally 4" lifts and 31" tires require some trimming of the front fender wells. Rubbing occurs near the outer limits of the steering range.

I have BFG A/T KO 31/10.5/15 tires on mine with a 4" Overland lift.. I had to do quite a bit of cutting and trimming to the body cladding, as well as notch and bend some of the pinch welds.. It was not hard to do, but it will need to be done. If you do not have the body cladding it will be a little easier to make them fit, but I also found the cladding hides a lot of the cutting and banging I had to do.. I f you are patient and take your time you can trim it and make it look really nice. Just go slow and remove a little at a time so you dont remove more than neccessary..

I have my 31s on stock wheels and a 4" OLV lift. The tire rides tall so you'll have to trim a bit. Its doable and will come out real clean looking if you are careful. There are a few write ups on this website of the process along with photos.

My problem is I have no room on the back tires for chains, too close to the front of the wheel well. I'd love to see some pics of those ares trimmed.

That is where the OV spring hangers can help out. They move the springs back a little to provide clearance there. You could also redrill your stock spring hangers to move the springs back and down. You will gain about .75" more room for your tires/chains and about .5" in height. You just have to drill a new hole 1" lower and centered (.75" back). You can also reverse the stock hangers but that will move you back to the point you start crowding the rear.

BTW-If you need to remove them you will have to undo the gas tank inside mounts while supporting the tank on a stand. Then remove the filler and slide the tank towards the driveshaft to have room to get those long spring hanger bolts out. You may also have to undo some exhaust hangers and push the muffler towards the driveshaft.

Not at all. Such a mild relocation that it isn't even noticed. Rear axle is only .75" back with either the redrilling method or the OV HiPo hangers. It is only .5" lower with the redrill and up to an inch or so with the OV ones. Remember that lowering only one end of the spring will only raise the vehicle by half the amout you move it. Thats why the hole redrilled 1" lower only gains you .5" and why 4" longer shackles only lift it 2".
