new wheels

Post by leadtrombone »

looking at getting these wheels. Wondering if I should go for the 7 wide or the 8 wide. I would think the wider ones would be benificial for a bit wider tire and better tractions.

But i don't know if the fit will be ok. I think i stick with the 7's but does anyone think that the 8;s would be better???

there it is. They are "Unique 297" 15x8 wheels.

I had my dad order them for me. I was going to go with the 7" wheels but it looks like he ordered the 8" ones.

has anyone had these or thinks that the 8" are going to be problematic to fit on the van. its a 99 safari sle..

sorry for the goofed post. and looking forward to participating in the community..

Just funning with ya a bit LT. Those are some nice looking wheels. there's a post somewhere here on the site that gives all the particulars on wheel dimensions. One thing to watch for is a wheel width that would conflict with the sliding door. Search for that post, you'll know it when you find it.

I figured. This forum looks pretty laid back and light hearted. Been looking ;round and don't see much (or any for that matter) hate/flames. But just the same. I don't like it when i don't do what a say in the next sentence. Like having to send the email again to attach the doc you said you would attach. Just shows me how far gone i am some times.

well. enough of that. just waiting on those wheels.... \:D/

You should post before you order stuff, we'll save you money. Those are the same as the Crager Soft 8 rims (as in made in the same plant and everything) and go for less than $45 a rim at Summit Racing.

Would have saved you enough to do a matching spare if you wanted.

I did post before i bought. however, i manage to goof the post and there was no link.

I did get kinda down to the wire. I bite the bullet on this one though.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

now.. just to fix my heater...

edit... now that i look. the wheel there from summit doesn't include the center cap... which is 13$.. still a bit cheaper. but i think the ones that i ordered include everything ...

i hope..

Well .. live and learn. I sent a mail to discount tire to see if they might do a price match... maybe.. but i doubt it.

any good deals on decent LT tires.. 235/70 r 15??? i havn't seen much below 130??

i don't want to cheap out too much but man those prices just hurt.

I really liked the BFG Radial TAs that I ran in that size. Roughly $105 each.

:: update ::

Kudos to discount tire. I brought up the lower price on the cragers at summit. Gave them a print out of the online card with the product (with shipping calculated). And... They have already refunded the difference. Kewl..

Thanks for the tips guys.

That's terrific. I tried the same with several tire dealers here in Orlando and got a "NO" from everyone of them. So, I drove up to Atlanta. I have 5 vehicles. Guess who wont be getting my business.
