Changing rear shocks 2004 astro w/rear air conditioning

Post by STEPHAN »

New to the site great information here, I went to remove the rear shocks and noticed that the top rear shock bolt on the drivers side won't come out unless I move the rear ac line has anyone ran into this, the bolt has to be pushed out and the ac line is in the way, theirs clips that hold the line against the frame if I take the clips off will I be able to move the line enough to get the bolt out

You don't need to remove the upper bolt. Loosen and remove lower shock nut/bolt and slide out of mount then loosen and remove upper nut and slide shock off of bolt. If the spare is in the way, lower slightly so you can remove.

can't get the front ones off can't get a wrench in there only a socket and that leaves me no way to keep the rod from turning can't put nothing on the top to hold it, if I break it , when I put the new one in how do I tighten top nut down if I can't stop it from turning

You got it ! :supz:
(2wd only) Put a deepish socket over it and just bend it over till it snaps.
Then it can drop out the bottom
Dont worry bout tightning the new one, it wont be an issue.
