I need a favor

Post by dj_joker_2002 »

If anyone here has the stock rear sway bar I need pictures of the frame brackets. The brackets I believe bolt to the frame and then have the end links going from the sway bar ends to the brackets.
My 92 safari GT had the rear bar when I bought it but the brackets and the end links were missing.

The local Chevy or GMC dealer can look up the GM PN for the end links.
there is a good source of GM parts at Flow Chevrolet in Salem NC. go to http://www.gmparts.com or ?

I thought of putting an OEM rear sway bar on my 2003 AWD Astro, but I think I will wait until Hellwig or someone comes up with the end link kit that can be dis engaged to in effect disconnect the rear bar for more articulation in the dirt.

I have a rear swaybar from a `96 small Blazer that I`m gonna fit, sorry no pics at the moment but I`ll get some at the weekend, just something easier to find in the wrecking yards than an original Astro one and mine is 1 1/4 inch thick.

I seem to remember that someone made a nut plate and slipped it in the big oval access hole, slid it down and ran the bolts up into it to secure the bracket. That has got to be a little tricky with the distance involved (more than finger length) but it can be done.
hope that helps too.

My girlfriends brother has the rear sway bar. I took these picks a while back, shows it well though. This is on a 97 Safari 2wd.

They are a totally different beast with the rear sway bar on! It is easily one of the best mods you can do for handling.

Dang! That 97 is clean as a whistle! Looks like brand new! Even though ny 97 only has 31k on it, its been in Michigan and Ohio its whole life rotting.

Seems I remember Helwig being rated hi in AS a while back?

I am seriously considering this upgrade...
