Dummy Alarm Keeps Going Off

Post by CaptSquid »

I've been plagued for some time now with the Dummy Alarm going off for no reason. (You know, "Dummy, you left the lights on;" or "Dummy, you left the keys in the ignition."

Sometimes, this leads to low voltages. Other times, it has drained the battery completely.

Well, the other day, I had rolled down the window before I shut it off (temps outside > 100º). I was just going inside to get something. Two steps later, I was hearing the bell. The keys were in my hand and the lights were off. I opened the door and even toyed with the pin switch for the dome lamps. Nada. Zip. So, I punched the Dome Override switch and shut the door.

Days later, the battery is still full and the Dummy Alarm sounds only if I pulled a Dummy.

I ordered a new switch from Parts Geek ($32, shipping included.) and it should arrive in the next few days.
