Chimes

Post by Randy »

I own a 95 Safari Van with no alert chimes when the lights are left on or door left ajar! How do I repair that?

I wasn't aware they had a chime. My 96 Safari doesn't have it. Welcome to the site.

Hi,
Some Astro's have door/light chimes, others have an irritating buzzer.
It's possible that your Safari has had it's chime module disabled by a previous owner who found the noise annoying.
The chime or buzzer module is usually found tucked up under the dash or tucked away on the left side of the instrument panel in the area of the headlight switch.
In my experience it'll be a plastic box with seven connection terminals.

Back in the 90's I owned an'85 Astro conversion van, it was fitted with a buzzer. I bought a chime module from a Chevy dealership in California,, it plugged straight in and produced the familiar chime tones.

More recently a good friend in California found me a good chime module for my '95 Astro from a WY.
(not many Astro/Safaris in Wreaking yards near London England !)

Hope this helps some.
