instrument cluster compatibilty

Post by AquaAngel »

Good day guys, been a while since i have posted anything here.

I just bought a 98 Gmc AWD Safari Van last week end and some minor few things need to be done "do be expected" and one of them is the instrument panel "or cluster". I do have a spare 2001 Awd Astro van that i will take apart pretty soon and was wondering if the 2001 would fit in my 98?

8-[ I wouldn't count on it. Some years back, I ran into an electrical incompatibility with different-year instrument clusters with the same physical dimensions and tie-in points on the second-generation Ford Ranger (pre-facelift), wanting to retrofit a tachometer at the time. I cannot rule out General Motors varying the pinout every two to four years on the instrument cluster to meet requirements for new telltales, even among years with the same cluster shells and gauge layouts.

Welcome back, I looked around rockauto, they don't seem to have any display / dash parts to compare. Maybe try the junkyard sites for compatibility tools or lists they may have online. I'd be interested to know what you come up with.

Do you still have the '93???
