removing front driveshaft

Post by photo_van »

What's the story with the strange looking driveshaft flange bolt heads? Nothing seems to refer to them in my factory manual. A regular socket kinda fits, but they're really tight and I don't want to bugger them up. Thought for sure I'd see reference to them here but didn't see any. Any suggestions?

Also, anyone know how much fore/aft play there is in the driveshaft cv joint? I know there is quite a lot in axle joints. I'm going to need to "stretch" my driveshaft about 3/4" and would rather not have to get a new one made up.

Thanks

search on the web gave me the answer Torx E12 and E14. Showing my age, didn't know there were "male" Torx. Back when I used to wrench there was no Torx! :D

Still wondering about stretching the driveshaft tho...

The CV joint in the front drive shaft will not stretch 3/4". You'll either need to make a spacer or a new drive shaft.

Thanks. I took it off yesterday, realistically it didn't "stretch" much more than ~3/8".
