I have a 92 Safari van and a 2000 Safari van.
I want to know if I can put the 92 rear end in the 2000.
I put a good junk yard rear end in the 92 before I got the 2000,
now the 2000 is making noise, I had the wheel bearings replaced but it still makes noise. Sears just replace the wheel bearings and not the axial bearings in the rear end.
PS. My first post. Great Site, wish I would have found it years ago.

I know it can be done, because I put a 1993 axle in my 1999 van while I was rebuilding the original one. The springs are different widths, as are the perches on the axle, so it takes some shoehorning, but fits. I had to shim the clamshell IIRC, due to the perch being different, but I don't remember exactly. It will be easy if you have both vans to interchange the needed parts.

you might have to swap bump stops, I put an 88 rear end in my 96, and the brake pads and pistons are a little different. you'll want to use the pads from the older one and make sure you keep track when buying replacements,
