Passenger side dash handle

Post by completetech »

I am not quite sure what the part is called, but it is on the passenger side dash and a huge handle that can be held onto by the passenger. This piece broke off a few months back and I am just now getting to replacing it. I am looking to see if anyone else has had to replace this part and if they could give me a part name and possibly how they happened to replace it.

I think my best bet is going to be the junkyard but the issue is I do not know how to remove it.

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nathan

Yeah, not really a handle or load supporting despite how it looks, use the pillar handle for that.

I replaced mine with one from the salvage yard. The airbag has to come out and has nuts on the backside. I repaired the damaged plastic with epoxy and also epoxied fender washers to help spread the load. I may have had to grind the fender washers a bit to fit, it's been a few years...

Now I tell everyone not to touch it. :yikes:

**Be sure to disconnect battery for at least 30 minutes prior to disconnecting and removing airbag, even then I tried not to have my face, body or tools in front of it while working with it**
