Steering wheel swap questions

Post by JTalley »

I just got a better job, and I want to slowly start to do some inexpensive mods, just to make the van my own. I was thinking about changing to a newer model steering wheel, just to be different, but I was wondering if the wiring for the horn was the same, and how much trouble the air bag would cause. I don't intend to hook up the air bag because my '92 doesn't have any of the sensors. Anyone have any advice?

I wasn't gonna get one of the aftermarket ones, I was thinking of using one from a 96 or newer van.

Well, I'm sorry I can't tell you for sure if it would fit or not but
I can say the one I took off was a complicated P.O.S. The horn I'm sure would work fine but mounting the wheel itself with the airbag may be a problem. See if you can find the parts list on the web, I've seen it posted but don't have the link, GM partsgiant?? and compare with your year to see if the bolt patterns and such are similar. If they are close and you want measurements , post here with a picture and I'll measure the old parts I have in the garage. It's pretty chewed, not worth the shipping, otherwise I'd send it your way.
