laptop stand thoughts

Post by completetech »

Anyone have a homebrew or good information on a homebrew or links to a inexpensive laptop stand for the front cab area of a cargo astro or safari?

I do a lot of different things that'd be nice to have a laptop stand for in the front. Maybe a swing type mount incase I have a ride-a-long.

thoughts or suggestions.?? I do like the RAM mounts but they are a bit pricey!!!

had one in my crown vic that swung between both seats, it was great. for vacations we got a GPS program and antenna and had a massive navigation computer, and we could park outside anywhere with wireless and check hotel rates and stuff.

i still have the mount and not planning on using it anytime soon. i bet you could put it on a pedestal for use in a van pretty easily. not sure it will go wide enough for a modern widescreen laptop, i used my older one with it.

How about a milk crate between the seats with a bungee cord to hold it down. That's what I do.

Normally I'd say why not. But I think my $2400+ Mac book pro would feel disrespected. :)

How can one possibly diss a 'puter with a one-button rodent -- further than what has already been done? :poke:

Make a cozy for the milk crate and use Velcro instead of the bungee cord.

Here's one from Galls that is about $270. About 1/10 the price of your Mac. Seems cheap for a quality mount.

I get worried when i see people texting while driving.
Will you be playing Mine-craft, or watching movies or anything when your driving?

But seriously.. I do a lot on my laptop in the van (parked, I.e.. Outside customers locations filling out things sending in pictures etc.. And it'd be nice to have it right there nice and sturdy

OK, so you're too good for a milk crate. Here's what I did when I drove Class 8 -- I bought a wooden TV tray. It fits nicely between the seats, is the right height and can be folded and stowed when you're not using it.

Get a HUD (heads up display) and read the email and look at porn on the windshield while you're driving. That way you won't be distracted... :muhaha:
