No factory tach. Both my ScanGaugeII and UltraGauge are capable of displaying RPMs.

Sure can. Make sure it's the same shape. If it's a non-mechanical speedo, it's all plug-n-play.

I know this is an old thread...but...When I picked up the t-case parts I also picked up the dash cluster from the 2000 Blazer. A quick measurement shows it should be very close to fitting if not a perfect fit. Does anyone have the pinout of the Blazer and my 2005 Astro? The connector wire colors don't match between the 2000 Blazer and the 98 Astro/Safari vans. The colors don't match but maybe the wire functions are the same?

Found the 2000 Blazer pinout...just need the 2005 Astro's.

Thats what I did too. Fits well with that style of speedo on those old style cluster.
Not sure how it would work on the newer round dial speedo though. Never tried.
I can say that my five speed van has an OEM connector for a tach, coming out from the distributor wire harness.
But I dont think they ever actually offered one.

My old 98 SPB had a tach wire at the coil or ICM...can't remember where and I put a tach into a dual A pillar pod. On the 96+ clusters I don't think a tach on the steering wheel will work.
