Repair question: Rear heater line leaking...

Post by Chad »

Hi, I have a 97 Safari and the lines that run to the rear heater core are leaking at the connecters to the hoses. The rear heat doesn't work anyway so I was wondering if I could just cut the pipes off at the connectors and run a piece of rubber hose from the IN pipe to the OUT pipe and bypass the heater core altogether. I am guessing they are 3/4" and 5/8" is that correct?

I did that on my 98, worked fine. I remember someone else just cut one side, then cut the existing flex hose to length and slid it on. Only one worm clamp and no new hose needed. BTW, I've got a good heater motor and core if you need one.
