How do i reattach this thing?

Not sure what this plastic piece is, but I broke it open with a light tap while trying unsuccessfully to get my fan off the pulley. Its located on the passenger side. It was getting dark so I couldn't look at it, but from the pic I don't know how to reattach it. Thanks

Thats the diverter for the heater core, not sure if it just snaps back down or not, but if it doesn't you'll need to either get to a parts store or the boneyard and grab another one.

Any tips on getting hoses off, the clamps are out of the way but the hoses are stuck on. If this thing breaks easily I dont see how I can easily reattach them either. I am assuming zip tying it together is out of the question. Should I just break down and cut all 6 hoses to replace, attach the new hoses to the piece 1st, and then put it in? Damn, why cant anything be easy

I sometimes use a small flat screwdriver to slip under the hoses to loosen them. You could try to snap it together, but I would remove it to a work bench first.

Heater divertor valve.
Just replaced mine, 40 bucks.
A remote hose clamp plier set is needed.

Thanks, was going to post the same info...40 bucks, not bad, but a costly mistake. Looks like its glued shut, wouldnt have been able to fix the other one without some zip ties or duct tape. Its all in now, but was getting dark, anyone want to take a look in their van an confirm the hose with the orange clamps (see one end in pic) is the bottom hose of the two under the silver clamped hose at the other end before I start it tomorrow. Thanks

I hate those springy clamp things. I replaced all mine with the screw drive ones.

Is that orange stuff Dexcool?

Yes, the top one should come from the water pump, and the two on the left should lead to the heater.

Removal & Installation

The procedure described is for the standard valve, other variations are similar.
Remove the air cleaner.
Remove the upper fan shroud.
Drain the engine coolant.
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater inlet pipe (5) clamp from the heater water control valve.
Remove the heater inlet pipe from the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater outlet pipe (6) clamp from the heater water control valve.
Remove the heater outlet pipe from the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater inlet hose clamp from the heater water control valve.
Remove the heater inlet hose from the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater outlet hose clamp from the heater water control valve.
Remove the heater outlet hose from the heater water control valve.
Remove the bolt (3) that retains the heater water control valve (4) to the heater assembly.

To install:
Install the heater water control valve (4) to the heater assembly.
Install the bolt (3) that retains the heater water control valve to the heater assembly.
Tighten the bolt to 35 inch lbs (4 Nm).
Install the heater outlet hose to the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater outlet hose clamp to the heater water control valve.
Install the heater inlet hose to the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater inlet hose clamp to the heater water control valve.
Install the heater outlet pipe to the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater inlet pipe (5) clamp to the heater water control valve.
Install the heater inlet pipe to the heater water control valve.
Using the hose clamp pliers, reposition the heater outlet pipe (6) clamp to the heater water control valve.
Connect the vacuum hose to the heater water control valve.
Fill the cooling system.
Install the upper fan shroud.
Install the air cleaner.
