V8 manual BW4472?

Post by Cobra »

So I been busy lately and haven't spent as much time on here as i'd like too but last night and this morning i've been asked about this setup. Is this combination possible, after a quick search i didn't see any threads on it and i know nothing about the manuals in the gmc pickups (i should rephrase that i know nothing about manuals in general lol) I'll be doing more research but any pointers on the problems would be great aid in my search.
I'm also curious how much this would cost i did a quick search locally and found that for $2300 i can get the two donors (manual pick-up and awd stro) and an extra 350 block but other then that don't even know what i'd need. anyways this is all hypothetical

The hardest part is getting the correct adapter for between the tranny and transfer case. The 4472's all came with the 5 bolt pattern and pretty much all the 1/2 ton trucks came with t-cases that have a 6 bolt pattern. Should be easy enough to do with 2 donor vehicles.

i remember you posting about someone on pirate4x4 making all kinds of adapter plates so i wasnt too worried about them. my concern is which transmission to use the bw4472 is 27 spine input right? the gm NV4500/3500 both seem to have 32 spline outputs same as the 4L80E?

The 4472 is 27 spline where any trans from a 3/4 or 1 ton will be 32 spline. What manual tranny did the 1/2 ton trucks use?

nv3500 was what i saw listed for light duty still a 32 spline i think. I did however find a 32 spline input shaft for the BW4472 here it's listed for the 4L80E (which i want in my van eventually) conversion but if the splines are the same it has potential

Edit:strangely enough i've been having trouble finding reliable information on the GM NV3500, i know there is a difference between the S10 and C1500 transmissions but other then tail shaft length i didn't see any definite answers
