ac compressor

Post by rawkdw »

Hello,
im in the process of replaceing the power steering pump on my 2000 safari awd. Ive read sonic reducers directions. My problem is the compressor wont come off the acc bracket. All four bolts are out but the front seems to be frozen to the acc bracket. Ive soaked it in pb blaster, heated it, beat on it, it wont come off. Ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Rick

Check the side and back there might be a bolt or nut you missed I remember having the same issue on one of my vans I think I got it from underneath if I remember correctly but it's been a long time.

Hope it helps good luck

Finally got it. What I didn't mention when I first posted was I Had snapped off th left front ac to acc bracket bolts, figuring it had snapped in the bracket cause thats where the threads are and the bolt hole in the ac is pretty oversize compared to the bolt.

Thw bolt had actually seized in both and was preventing the ac compressor from coming off. Drilling two small holes thru the ac housing to the seized bolt and heat got it to break lose.

Had the rest of the bolt removed by a local repair shop, cost 25 dollars.
Thanks for the replies.
