Secondary Alternator

Post by Mr Singh »

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for ways to mount a second alternator in my 97 Astro. I'm removing my AC pump as a result.

I came across this picture whilst googling 4.3l vortec motors

Image

You can see there is a second alt in situe of the AC pump would normally be. The bracket looks almost stock as though it was meant to be there. Anyone know if this bracket was on the 'Non-AC' models?

Its awfully tight in there, just looking for a fairly simple way or fork out the $$$$ for custom fab brackets..

Thanks,
Am

I had started to add one, but ran out of room. Mine was going to be used as a welder and not an alternator. I did end up adding a hydraulic pump though. :D
