Given the amount of travel and towing I want to do with Ole Yellar to fleamarkets,I was thinking of larger mirriors and side marker/turn signal lights on the side of the front fenders like the newer cars have.Anyone done that yet???.

Neat ideas on extra side turn signals.

LED lights sound like the way to go with less current draw one can use tiny wires to connect.

Thanks.Kind of pricey through. But like you said, shop around.I think LiftedAWDAstro has a set of extended mirrors on his towing van.If I remember right,I saw them at NECO 07 in Pa.Wonder where he got those.

Now on the other hand,I could shave the mirror mounts off the doors, use led turn signal lights on the fenders, and use west coast mirrors with cb antennas mounted on each mirror frame.LOL-not styling much, but maybe look pro for towing. #-o :yikes: :yikes: Hehe-anyone have photochop abilities to see what that would look like??. 8-[

Knowing what I know today, I'd do the following next time:

A - Buy Low profile orange university side marker lights. For example:
Product Example A - http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... 36604993-2
Product Example B - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVERSA ... 10003r5238
Note: Do shop around. All sorts of different side marker lighting ideas.

B - Install low profile orange marker light on the side of my vehicle - on the rear of the front fender - slightly infront of the drivers door. For example:
Volvo: http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-850/Lightin ... 2-106-328/
Fiat: http://www.correrenelverde.com/automobi ... s/Fiat.jpg

C- Connect the universal marker light to "ground" and to vehicle's Turn Signal wires - as show in above posts.

Having turn signal lights mounted on the fender, one doesn't need to feed wires through the driver's door and up into the van's mirror. Simply mount the clearance (turn signal light) light assembly on vehicle's upper front fender and seal with external silicone behind the assembly unit. Done and over with - and creates the same safety lighting increase improvement as mounting a signnal lights in or under one's mirror.

Hope this idea helps as well...

For where I live...it is seldom that traffic is that tight and I HAVE to get to another lane...but when I do: Flip the signal and steadily drop to the rear of the vehicle beside me and start moving over...the vehicle that's behind that vehicle beside me will have had easy visual of my tail lights and has to make way...I'm comin' over :D

I agree with Loopie. The only people who need to know I'm changing lanes are the drivers behind me.
