AWD Driveshaft transfer case yoke has a steel disc

Post by ingmyg »

On my 2004 AStro AWD the drive shaft slip yoke has a steel disc. I need a new driveshaft and it is complicated to replace that part. GM does not sell the driveshaft anymore.
Dose anyone know what will happen if I use a regular yoke without this inertia disc?

I'm not familiar with '04. But my '98 had the driveshaft in the bottom of the photo. I replaced it with the top one. Is that the disk you refer too? If so, no issues not having it on my van.

It's rubber damped, similar to a harmonic balancer but you should be fine without it.

Thank you guys. Your experience will certainly help me get a decently balaced new driveshaft.
