Wileys Camping Picture Extravaganza
Wileys Camping Picture Extravaganza
Ok, I love seeing the pics of places you guys camp that I have never been, so while I do have my travel thread which will begin in a few weeks, this thread will be dedicated to just camping pics. If I remember I will link the heading to the location in google maps, or for more info.
Catavina, Baja Mexico: (Side note, I drove closer to Mex 1 for the pics the next morning, I did not camp where you see, but my spot was pretty sick, and I didn't see anyone at all from on top of the rock formations. The last two pics show the road I took in, with the view going forward and back. Catavina gets mixed reviews for stealth camping, especially solo, but what can I say, I have balls; camp at your own risk, and enjoy:). Basically just pull off any side road near Catavina and drive a mile or two away from the main highway, and you should be fine, I was.)

TLow and Timeless - I'll have to pick you up on I5 in Portland as you head south. It would be interesting to see the look on the locals face when a caravan of gringos, all driving the same type of vehicle, come pulling into town.

Re: Wileys Camping Picture Extravaganza
You guys let me know when you're getting here, I will wait, I could use some additional Astro bad-assness down here.
Heres the pics from 2011 for the newcomers, may look familiar to some of you...since this trips pace should be slower the 2012 pics will have more camping, less parking pics, but an extravaganza thread needs more than 5 pics, so this should hold you over. Glad I made this thread as I see I need work on what and where I take pics of, more "camping" pics are a must.
Baja California
Santa Rosalia: Pulled up and slept right on the Malecon (boardwalk), woke to a great sunrise. The malecon is currently torn up and they are doing major construction there, who knows what is going on.
Beach camping 45 min North of Cabo:
Playa el Coyote, La Paz:
Mainland Mexico
San Blas:
La Manzanilla:
Guanajuato:
Teotihuacan (Northern Mex City): Wish I had a better pic, this one is just to show the pop tops in the background, a bunch of europeans caravaning in some sweet VWs if I remember correctly
Outside Oaxaca, Hierve del Agua:

The dirt road North east of San Jose del Cabo. Road was in great shape, though due to this I suppose I didnt air down my tires enough and had an overland van lift spacer bolt rattle loose and lost the spacer, bolt, and lower bushing. Dumb luck had me turn around to go back to camp at the spot you see below, which is how I found said pieces laying on the ground. A mile after turning back I see the spacer, WTF, that has to be mine. A quarter mile later I see the bolt and bushing...luckily they came out together, so I have the bolt. Thanks Universe! Even had a burro stop by.

Drat, reorganized my files, but cannot edit the original post. Will not due that again in the future, but it should be much easier for me to upload the pics now with the new format. Here are the pics that we lost, possible more or different
From North to South Baja
Catavina Desert:
Bahia Concepcion
Los Cabos:
La Paz:
I had a nice view of the water from my stealth camp, but my camera didn't catch it.
Will be a few more parking pics as I have just been in cities, but headed to the countryside so I will do what I can to grab some more "camping" pics.
