TLow, Awesome Vid! Are you filming or riding ?
:guitar:
It looks like your version of "nice n Slow" might be a wee bit different than Matt's.
Lol.
I need to get busy now tearing down my KLR in the basement and getting er all Locktited and greased in the appropriate places !
The stock setup runs way way to lean to feed my loud pipe !! So, Also Gotta re-shim the valves, and put a KLX needle/jet in the carb.
Also might build up an 18" front rim to run a front 4.60x18, just for fun. I hear it handles good.
Sounds like this site needs a KLR (or riders) sub-section now eh guys?

I was on my '05 GasGas 450 enduro (plated). Moore of a purpose built bike rather than a true dual sport like the KLR.

Here's my 2010 GasGas 450. 54hp, 250 lbs.

After owning a few "dual sports", it dawned on my one day that "dual sports" were terrible for most terrain. One day I figured out and now apply this axiom. "Buy the lightest bike you can tolerate and make it a dual sport". With Giant loop bags and what not...easy to do.

That dual sport sucks on the 3rd pickup.

That said, there is something to be said for the new Beemer dual sport.
What do you think of my quest to swap transfer cases to the venerable BW4472?

My KLR612 Flattracker
Image
KLR600 (570cc) with KLR650 cylinder = 612cc .. AMA rules allowed 600cc +.040" and 612cc just sneaks under the limit
Carrillo con rod 1/2 inch longer for proper rod ratio.. Cam chain needs + 4 links for longer rod
(almost all "silent" cam chain is made in Japan but is made on a Patent from Morse in the USA so links are 1/4" hence the 1/2" longer rod in a metric engine.)
KZ1000 drag race profiles on cams
Boss racing frame with '84 GPz750 alloy swingarm
Replaced alternator with one from a BSA to lose 9 POUNDS of rotating weight
'04 White AWD Astro cargo
'00 Astro / El Camino
'61 BSA Super Rocket
'71 BSA B50 engine in a '67 C25 250 chassis
Impossible is just a degree of difficulty....

Astro with bike hauler in hitch and air shocks to hold the weight. See my profile pic to the left. Been loving my 1980 Suzuki TS125! Been doing dual sport rides keeping up with 250's with modern suspension and busting my a$$ doing so!
Picked up a ktm 250 exc a month before our local dual sport event last summer. I can't believe what the suspension does for making riding way too easy! And the modern 250 has boat loads more power!!! Adding a hitch to the bumper on my camper so I can bring the bike along with the camper.

Cheating...Absolutely!!!! I'm kinda pissed at the guys who let me continue to ride twin shocks without suggesting I try something modern!!!!

The ts had 640 miles on it when I bought it in 2007. 3k on it now, stock piston with new rings. Seat was recovered while saving the panel with TS and Suzuki. It is too small to do much road riding and I don't like riding pavement on a bike alone. When I get hurt its my fault for wiping out or hitting trees.... not cause so dumba$$ didn't see me.
Now the ktm on roads is crazy! 55mph to 75 in a blink of an eye!!! But with rim locks and knobbies, it bounces all over.

I use Back Country Nav app and can save trip maps and post them. Works great for laying out trails, seeing where I rode. Later, I'll post acouple.
