I am looking for a grill guard for my 96 Astro. Does any one know where to find and buy one?

Nobody made one specifically for the Astro, but the similar-year fullsize trucks (Silverado/Sierra) had a similar width and "design language", so they line up pretty well. You're on your own for brackets, etc. to bolt one up, though.

I bought such a guard and it's sitting waiting for me to get ambitious. I've since had 2nd thoughts about adding the weight to my front-end, so I may never proceed.

Hi,
Yes, the grille guard from Chevy or GMC truck will fit.
It is tricky to make and mount a grille guard with the stock bumper though. Your new bracket needs to be secured to the frame ' bumper mounting location. It is easier to get to the frame if you first install the 2" lift. Then install the bumper relocation bracket. This will give you knowledge of how the frame mount works.

But, money would be better spent on a new heavy duty bumper. Such as ARB or WARN etc with built in grille guard as part of the bumper.

It is rare, but there was an aluminum grille guard available for the 2000 Chevy Z71 Tahoe that is very nice. But hard to find.

Good luck,

AP

Wow, that bumper-beam! Is that extruded? Looks like some kind of structural I-beam or something.

Hi,
Primed and painted aluminum bumper, added 55 Watt H3 halogen Bosch fog lights to grille guard, added thick rubber license plate bumper after using Tuffy winch mount license plate frame.
Has any one found LED replacement bulbs for H3 halogen bulbs?
