Hey gang,

I'm wondering if anyone has a spare "blanking plate" for the rear AC, rear Heater control, or rear wipers, they'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price.

As shown top right in this image:

My rear heater is covered by my cabinetry so I never use it, and I'd like to use a blanking plate to add a regular rocker switch to control my air compressor in this spot instead.

GM lists these as "Hole Cover, Lower" (p/n 15998980) or "Hole Cover, Center" (p/n 15697530).

This is probably easy to find as a junkyard pull, but I don't know when I'll next have time to get to a yard and eBay has surprisingly failed me in this regard (only one listed, and they're asking $50 w/ shipping!!)

Hi,

You can make your own from black or gray ABS plastic.
Sources are TAP Plastics, US Plastics, McMaster Carr, etc
Just measure one of the other panels.

Then center punch and drill hole for rocker switch.
Use label maker to label switch function

Herbie, I am hoping to make it to my pick and pull in the next couple of weeks.... If I do I will grab one. They shouldn’t charge me for it so a few bucks in shipping should do it.

Have you thought about pulling the whole heater out? I needed the space for my
Fridge so I pulled it out including the lines all the way up to the engin compartment.

Was hoping to just get an easy snap-in one. I have the ABS to make one, but since the OEM ones can even get loose if the cable is routed wrong, I didn't want to try to get a flat piece of plastic without the "ears" to stay in place.

I've thought about it. I'm not sure I'd remove everything, but I've considered at least splicing the send/return lines together under the body and yanking the core. As of today, I don't need the room, but an extra cubic foot of storage isn't anything to sneeze at.
