Unusual aftermarket wheels

Post by socalastro »

In a previous post I asked if 85 Corvette wheels would fit my 97 LS. Turns out everyone was right. Wrong bolt pattern. Darn it. I thought that might look cool. So, that addition is abandoned. My new idea is to put late 60's style rally wheels on it with caps and rings. A has anyone done this or seen it done? I am also preparing to do a color change from factory medium dark teal (with silver bottom cladding) to dark grey. I am also doing silver Camaro SS stripes on the hood and back doors. The van is at this moment getting a new windshield and limo tint for the 5 rear windows. I'll keep you updated. Anyhow, thoughts on the rally wheel idea? Thanks!

They sell an aftermarket 10 bolt chevy ralley wheel. One way they are 4.75. the other pattern is 5. they will work on an astro van as for the hats n rings any chevy classic car part website should have them.

The old school rally wheels are a classic. They look good on everything. \:D/

These belong to a member named Loopie who later lifted his van and changed tires.
Is that anything like the rallies of which you speak???
These could be found on lots of fullsized chev 1/2 ton vans & trucks, and are 8" wide.

Thats the idea! I was actually thinking about the Corvette/Camaro/Monte Carlo type rally wheels. But nice job finding that pic! Thats the same color combo as my Astro, plus I am going with the BFG's as well. I actually found a wheel place on eBay that makes repro rally's in 14 to 17 inch sizes and custom bolt patterns including 5x5. And as a bonus, they are here in California. They will be on my van by the end of next month.

Cool.
I think the only real visible difference in these rims and the vette rallies is that the vettes have 5 big holes around the inside, while Loopies wheels have a whole bunch of smaller holes.
Like I said these look almost exactly the same, are readily available and are probably pretty cheap too.

Now my personal favorite is the wheels that came on the old 70's K5 Blazers.
They were an 8" wide, 8 spoke that looks just like the astro stock 8 spoke, except it's 8" wide!
With beauty rings and caps, they look great.
