Hello from Seattle

Post by Snowfari »

Hello from Seattle!

My girl and I bought a 99 gmc safari slt AWD as a 4x4 “adventure van” that can handle overnight snowboard trips and general camping. We’re planning on taking it to Yellowstone at the end of August and have a list of things to do to prepare. By winter we would like to lift it with some bigger tires and suspension in time for snow.

Thanks
Justin and Carmin

Welcome, from Issaquah.
I am a rather new Astro owner ( just over 6 months now), but from what I have read, I think you will find it quite acceptable in the snow, even without the lift.
Mine is slowly being outfitted for portable amateur radio to remote and/or high locations.
If it is not already on your list, consider changing all interior lamps to LED's for longer battery life.
A separate battery for 'camper' use, charged via an RV battery isolator, or even just a simple ignition powered relay; will eliminate the possibility of running down the starting battery. Be sure to put properly sized fuses on any circuits you add.
