Gabequest in Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road!

Post by mdmead »

Was looking at my copy of the March 2015 Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road when something caught my eye on the cover. "Overland Astro Van". Hmm. Inside the cover was a 2" pic of a familiar van. Quickly turning to page 68, here is what I found!

Awesome. This motivated me to finish wiring harness and test of 1998 np233 electric shift T case.
Got it working today so i can install in my 2003 AwD Astro.

Anyone else notice the bullet points state there are two different types of transmission in his van? I see a 4l60 and a 700R4.

They are basically the same transmission, but his van came with the 4L60E.

700R4 -> 4L60 -> 4L60E

True...I get they are the same. It's just funny they listed both versions in the same magazine and nobody caught it.

HOLY CRAP!
I didn't even know it made the magazine!! The writer never told me!!!
So I just sold the van ;(
It was time to go. It had 160,000k on it and I was tire of tinkering ALL THE TIME!!

While it was for sale on Craigslist, the photographer saw it and called me up. We met in Reno and took it out for the shoot. Now I'm even more sad its gone!!!
Thanks for all the Kudos!

FYI: The trans is rebuilt 4L60E with shift kit.
