help urgent

hello everyone looking for info on this piece of rubber im in the middle of a water pump change and found this on the ground what is it ??

just finished putting the van all back together , not sure what that piece was from . i hope it wasn't super important thanks

Hi,
Looks like a piece of rubber trim. Shine a flashlight in engine compartment and look for some sharp edge of sheet metal .
Perhaps near firewall. Did water pump repair include new heater hoses?

No it did not. I was too lazy. I know I know.
Also I was being cheap. I thought about the hoses and the thermostat.
But was too lazy Been spending tons of cash on this bad boy. So have been only fixing the prices that fail. Tranny rebuild killed my budget. But all is good now. I’ve replaced al sot eve thing you could think of. Except hoses. Even resoldered the EBCM.
