So, When I first converted my 5 speed van to 4wd, I used the old doaner engine with 360000 km on it. I drove it for quite a while to figure out all the bugs. turns out MOST of the bugs were to do with the OLD engine and used tranny.... Then I pulled that old engine out along with the old used trans and t-case. I had a fresh engine waiting with only about 50000KMs on it. So, I got my transmission and transfer case overhauled, and now its time to put all 3 back into the van. I am trying out an aftermarket clutch slave cylinder/throw out bearing combo unit so that I wont have an external slave cylinder in the way of everything. I hope it works out well. I had to modify one of my bellhousings. I also made a different set of engine and trans mounts to use this time. I'm test fitting the parts today. Hope to hoist it in tommorow.

Well, Thanks, but Trust me. I dont spend a lot of time on them like I should, notice the new engine pic taken in Dec, followed by it being installed in June... Bit of a lag there......
I've only been building up a 4wd for a year or so, should be done by next year maybe...
4x4 still not done, and still working on it . :D Today, I need to pull my new engine up the stairs on my p handle dolly to let it escape the dungoen and go back into its proper home.

Well, I have made another trans mount block that lifts 2" , same as the engine mounts.
Shafts should rotate a bit smoother this time. [-o<

My rebuilt engine, rebuilt trans and rebuilt t-case have all been inserted back into the van, and now the reconnection process begins.

Dude, you live in one really cool spot, I'll tell ya that.

We drove thru Cowichan from Port Renfrew late afternoon Saturday and stopped at A&W. People were walkng home from the lake, it was a beautiful warm sunny day with rolling mountains nearby for a back drop.

I found a great camp spot on Francis Lake around the far western side. It involves a 4wd creek crossing (it's a rocky bottom, but not hard packed) and then a high ground clearance trail maybe a half mile long to a big clearing on a rocky beach.

Hmmm, Late saturday afternoon, I was getting my brown van towed home fro Chemainus.
My first Fuel Pump Failure ! )>)
You should see the beach where I walk my dog on Sunday mornings !
You were less than 5 minutes from my place.
Yup, nothing like a town full of bikini clad women wandering around the streets on a hot day. :bounce:
Summer here is great, and winter is so quiet & serene.
Great steelhead and trout fishing in the river, 5 mins walk from my place.
Glad you enjoyed yourselves over here....

I insured my AWD van for the winter.
My Son is learning to drive this winter too,
so He drove his brother and I out to Port Renfrew to go to the beach with our dog.
Pretty nice day for mid-November.

Hillcrest Main to Old Port Renfrew Rd? Any route between Lk Cowichan and Port Renfrew is an awesome nice area for a day trip.

Can't believe you'd teach him to drive in all that traffic! Must have seen atleast half dozen vehicles throughout the day! :muhaha:

Hey Tom. Hi. Ya, not much traffic here.. We took the Pacific Marine Way which used to be called Harris Creek Main.
He actually had at least 30 hours riding the KLR on those roads before he started with the van this fall.
He likes the bike better than the van for some reason, go figure , lol...
Last weekend I had him offroading up Hilcrest road on Mount Prevost.
