1992 Astro Passenger Van - 140K original miles VIN 1GNDM15ZXNB225211
4.3 Lite EFI V6 Gas Engine/4 spd Auto Trans w/overdrive
-Never modified-
Everything still works except for the hi-beam switch & A/C
Front seats need upholstering badly but 2 bench seats in good shape.
Original parts replaced over the years: brake lines, fuel tank/pump, idler arms, tie rod, muffler/tl pipe, frt shocks, alt, dr handles, glove box lock, ignition & assorted sensors
Still drives-regularly maintained by mechanic
Family is forcing me to give her up & I just CAN’T drive her to the salvage yard

Sadly my plate is full at the moment. I can't afford the time to come get her.
Surely you could make a sale on your local craigslist. She drives and I don't see rust, have you tried to sell? Why the boneyard?

Oh! too bad for me! there actually are dots of surface rust along the window frames where paint was pitted. There is a bad area of rust on & in the rt rear wheel well that is crumbly. I'll see it I can post a pic

I didn't try Craigslist because I was afraid a scrapper would show up if I listed her free. MD has a strict safety inspection program before you can register a vehicle so I didn't think I should promote her as a street vehicle. If no one here can use her, I'll list her for sale on Craigslist & then the boneyard drive can be last resort. That will appease the family & I can keep her a bit longer- :muhaha: Thanks for your help!

Looks good. The rust looks like it's all surface rust, nothing rotten. Which is great. So it is drivable right now? Do you think it would make it to Maine if I came and got it? I definatly want it if you want. And it will be going to a good home, these vans are getting harder to find and I would hate to see it go to the scrap yard.

Okay, thank you Woodbutcher. I will let you know. It's sweet to see it's not completely rusted out like most of the vans here in Maine. If I get it, undercoating will be definatly needed to help keep the rust from getting bad from Maine winters.

um, I really don't know if it could make a trip to Maine. I wasn't using it for my 60 mile commute because I wasn't sure if it would break down on the hwy due to age. So glad you could use it, even if just for parts
