Advantage in flipping ball joint mounts (lifted AWD)

Post by arlon »

I see where a few people have mounted the ball joint under the A arm. What's the benefit of this? Doesn't too difficult. Just wondering if it would serve any benefit for a van with only a 2" lift?

That depends on where you got the 2 inches from ????

If you just cranked up the torsion bars on an otherwise stock van, to get the 2" = the BJ flip will be a benefit.
If you added a 2" body lift and didnt adjust the torsion bars at all = the BJ flip will be useless and probably detrimental.

Basically, the BJ flip helps relieve the sharp angle on the BJ created by cranking the torsion bars way up. helps it ride at a more suitable angle on the BJ.

If you havent cranked up the T-Bars for 2 more inches, dont mess with the BJ Flip idea.
My 2 cents.

Thanks, that makes sense. I haven't touched the torsion bars.
