P0442 Code fun

Post by blacknome »

I have been battling a P0442 code in wifeys Impala for a year now. I changed the Evap Valve with a used unit then a new one. Changed the gas cap and the code always returns.

Now the van has been tripping the P0442 code as well. All I have done so far is replaced the gas cap and re-set the code ( it returns within 30 mins of driving ). I looked at the fuel overflow and it looks solid enough

Any suggestions for either vehicle ?? I need to run it thru emissions testing before July and they won't pass it with any emissions trouble codes

You could also take it to a a shop that has a smoke injector machine. They can find the leak with that. We had to do it on our 2005 Trailblazer we had.
Current rides:
2013 Toyota Tundra DC 4x4
2008 Dodge Nitro 4x4
2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8S Special Edition

Mileage spreadsheet

Vans owned:
1986 Safari 2.5L 4 speed manual - scrapped
1995 Astro 2WD conversion 4.11 posi, shift kit, DHC rock rails - sold to Skippy
1998 Astro 4x4 D44, D60, NP231, full hydraulic system with 9k# Milemarker winch and snow plow - sold to Lockdoc
2003 Astro AWD all stock - traded for a 3/4 ton truck
2005 AWD, 4.10's - sold to skippy

yeah, I will have to do something. What are the chances that the 2 vehicles that require emissions testing both have the same fault codes and that it's something I can't figure out ?
