Problem with functions on turn signal lever

Post by Lorax »

I just bought my first Astro Van. Its a 2002 LS. It has been neglected and I have been doing my best to bring it back up to top condition. The functions on the turn signal lever are having issues. The cruise control doesn't work at all, the wipers work but the delay function is not working, they work at one speed. The washer fluid function will work if I jiggle the lever a little. Signals work fine. I am wondering if there is something internal to the lever that could be causing this?

You may need to pull the steering wheel. The electrical contacts inside could be oxidized.

Welcome to the forum.

The stalk itself can be replaced inexpensively, but that only solves the cruise part of the problem. The wiper functions are internal to the steering column. It might be less expensive to just purchase a complete column from the JY.

I agree with Mike. Two yrs ago on my 94LT I bumped the turn signal with my leg and parts fell on the floor.I wanted to cry. #-o I messed with it for a long, long, time and man what a pita.I took it to my friends shop and we got it to work somewhat by cable tie'ing back together.I would think the delay wipers is more likely a ground issue or a circuit board issue.Look under the hood by the wiper motor.
Really to replace the steering column is tons easier.

If the solution hasn't been posted even in a 2 year old thread, there is no problem posting it so that anyone else finds it useful.
