Re: Possible fuel pump failure?
Agree with tests listed above.
I've swapped out a couple already. I will take some time, but really anybody with
mechanical know how should be able to get it done.

Cheap Big Brakes
AS.com had a post about using 1/2 ton 4x4 p/u rotors and calipers on the pre-2003 AWD vans. Which sounds really cool, however my DD is a 2WD van. I was thinking about this while driving tonight and it hit me, wheel bearings. If I cross reference which vehicles use the same wheel bearings I could see...

Re: getting another astro ..
This past year, I installed a FE2 quick-ratio steering box in my '99. The handling isn't so much quicker as to make snow driving scary, but it is more fun to thread your way through traffic.

Re: Towing an Astro 4 wheels down
Sounds like a bit of a headache. My idea was to flat tow one van with the other van roughly 40 miles to Chicago, unhitch, load both vans with bikes, riders and gear, and I drive one and a friend drive the other to cycling events. Guess it might be easier just to have someone hop the train and drive ...

Just found a site that says bundles weighs about 70 lbs, so you maybe looking at 1400 lbs. It's doable.

Re: shingle transport
I don't think it would complain too much. I've loaded 8 adults, 9 MTBs, everyone's gear, and a few cases of beer in my past two vans, guessing around 2000 lbs. Van's rode a little low on the back, but transported the load from Chicago to Cleveland and back on many occasions.

Re: Grumpy the Rally Van
Thanks for the carpet advise. Yeah, I hear you about fixing the engine. However Grumpy is sitting for now due to my inability in really afford it. I'm just trying to start it every now and then, and roll it around the parking lot that it's sitting in because I hear it's better than just letting it s...

Grumpy the Rally Van
With the warm weather in Chicagoland, I thought today would be a good day to play with Grumpy a little. Cleaned out most of the garbage and decided that all the carpet will be removed for a thorough cleaning. Went to start it up with the normal shot of starting fluid, nothing, five tries nothing. It...

You're too nice to your passengers, I make them walk around the van..in the snow, uphill, both ways.astrozam wrote:They don't face the wrong way,we modified the gas tank fill doors so our passengers can get out and fill up for us,of course to do this we had to switch the slider over to the drivers side.
