Re: Need recommendation for smoother drive

What did your 2” lift consist of? Can I assume that the ride was fine prior? Does it feel that the front or rear is stiffer?

Just trying to narrow down the cause.

Re: High Roof / Poptop / Camper Conversion Info Thread - 201

Found these out on the inter webs: the second of which is the one I mentioned seeing using a top from another vehicle. http://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=88569 https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/vandwellers/comments/4ya0s9/the_poptop_fit_on_my_astro_now_on_to_the_interio...

Re: Help with installing swivel bases please.

Hey guys this look a lot like mine. Here was my solution for using the swivels and getting around the heater duct. The following is from page 3 of my build plus a few extra pictures attached. It has been a really busy year and I have used my van camping and during bike races but haven't made to many...

Re: High Roof / Poptop / Camper Conversion Info Thread - 201

X92560 - you are headed down the right track! I have been lifted with pop top for about 6 years and did the np236 4x4 swap last year. I am happier now with my van than ever. I will be honest that to date i have maybe seen one pop top built from scratch (with a top not intended to be an astro top). M...

Re: Suspension clanking...

Thats a gresat idea. When those things are loose it sounds like the van is going to fall appart. I just ordered my rancho 9000 for the back end of the van this week (front to follow soon).... that is as good a time as any to grab a spare and put it in the parts bin.

Re: Suspension clanking...

One thing i have had come loose, after doing an overland vans 4” lift with rancho 5000 shocks, is the upper shock mounting bolts on the rear shocks. It happened once after my first rough road drive and once more 3 years latter. I am not sure why this happend as i got the very tight both times but it...

Re: Trailer wiring for your van.

Update.... I kept looking at that fuse block and seeing colors listed and thought none said orange (the color of the wire) but really it is listing the color of the connector.... thus it was sitting right in front of my face. All done now and my wiring works.

Re: Trailer wiring for your van.

Ok so I see the orange wire for the 12v in the left front of the van but not seeing where that plugs in. Do i need to take the fuse block off and plug it in behind or does it go somewhere else? I had a 7 pin harness that has been there since i got the van but with my new trailer it all seems messed ...

Re: Airbags for a 4” lifted van

I talked to the guys at my local 4x4 shop and they cleared all this up for me. I purchase a typical air bag kit.... they sugges the Firestone ride-rite kit. We install everything then measure the gap under the air bag. They carry spacers that you then match to that gap and your all done. Looking lik...

Airbags for a 4” lifted van

Howdy folks, I have poured through the posts and have yet to see this discussed. I need to add air bags to the rear suspension of my van for towing a small camp trailer. There are kits for our vans in stock configuration but has any one figured out an airbag kit for our lifted vans? Here is a pictur...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

Well I completed the install to full working order in 3 days..... but I needed to trim the wires to a consistent length so I left things pulled apart. I have been driving it daily all along. To be honest since I bought the van something has always been in progress and pulled appart so I am rather us...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

Update on wiring issue: first I plugged in a backup switch to ensure that the dim light on the 4hi switch was not the switch itself. Then went to the wiring diagram and determined that 4hi illumination wire was tan with black. I found this wire at the switch and determined that indeed this was the w...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

Herbie, this is exactly where my head was going but I would have never been able to say it so clearly. In the end tracing things down is not so bad, I have every wire labeled at each end and cataloged. I guess my dash really didn't want to be put back together any time soon :-) Your dash blank has b...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

Ok wiring guys.... I just got done doing a final cut down on the wires for the 236 harness. This required pulling each wire out of the orange TCCM connector cutting splicing and covering each wire. Everything seems to be working properly but the 4hi indicator light on the switch is dimly on all the ...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

RINNY, so I will be very curious how this works out for you! Few questions: Does the np236 bolt right up to the 5.7 and / or would a tougher np246 have worked? It seems that the express guys have not figured out how to make this work yet, based on your intel does it seem that this could be an option...
