Re: Armrest repair 96+
:-s A hard overlay ain't the same as a proper re-cover. As long as I've latches to get for my M11006, I'm researching the armrest dimensions for the cab doors, as I've a driver-side armrest rebuild in the near future, which means new open-cell foam of the proper spring rate to cut as well as new DuP...

Re: LED 1156 fittment issue and fix - reverse light upgrade
:fball: For my M11006, I'm actually seeking an elevator upgrade for the stock reverse positions: 12 VDC / 5 max W, (PA)R-12 replacement (rather than an omnidirectional S-8 replacement such as thenextdon13 used), BA15s base. SuperBrightLEDs.com has T-envelope LED microtowers for fallback in case the ...

Re: DIY: Astro AWD Motor Mount Replacement Energy Suspension
 Thanks for the heads up on the a market saturated with chink mounts. I's already considering new powertrain mounts for my M11006, and ideally I'd like thick metal plates rather than even the ENERGY SUSPENSION® urethanes available to remanufacture the stock clamshells - that's the only way t...

Solid-solid/rack-and-pinion contingency
:-k I've seen fit to draw up a new contingency powertrain for my M11006. Ford Motor Company used to manufacture high-pinion 8" axles for the F-100, F-150 and Bronco (possibly the Ranger); don't know whether Currie Enterprises supports the high-pinion 8. The rack-and-pinion steering I envision f...

Re: Starter cross-compatibility with other Chevy V8s
After checking stats for two BesTest® starters at OReillyAuto.com, I's shocked to find that the stock starter (for which the BesTest PG260, UPC# 190037054807, is a second-source) is in fact a gear-drive rated for 1.7 max kW, which explains the Chrysler sound. The direct-drive alternative at O'Reill...

Starter cross-compatibility with other Chevy V8s
:-k As of April 2021 the stock starter in my 1997 GMC® M11006 (which has a Chrysler geared sound, strange for a direct-drive design) has developed at least one open in the rotor and won't crank consistently. I know about older designs of Delco-Remy direct-drive starters for the CHEVROLET® Turbo-Fire...

Re: Oil filter comparisons
I've had oil filters stuck on previous machinery; first used K&N® on a Ford E350 with a V8-351 Windsor. I found the HP-2001 satisfactory for the Chevrolet/GM Turbo-Fire 262 V6, and the welded-in 1" hex permits removal with box wrench or socket.

Re: instrument cluster compatibilty
8-[ I wouldn't count on it. Some years back, I ran into an electrical incompatibility with different-year instrument clusters with the same physical dimensions and tie-in points on the second-generation Ford Ranger (pre-facelift), wanting to retrofit a tachometer at the time. I cannot rule out Gener...

Re: Carburetor ID??
:yikes: Get that MonoJet outta there!!! The Rochester®/GM® M-Series single-barrels have a design flaw in the fuel-bowl float pivot that occasionally lets the float cockeye, holding the inlet valve open - I learned about that flaw the hard way in the 1980's on an X-body, viz., a 1970 CHEVROLET® Nova™...

Re: coil and bracket removal
:bounce: I found out that studs, rather than nuts, retained the bracket. The original coil and previous-replacement secondary wires have since been ruled out as the cause of the miss at idle; can't shake a feeling that I have to replace the HVS due to bad bearings (the rotor's axial position within ...

Re: factory amp questions..
 Sorry to revive an old Thread, but y'all gave me an idea for a different retrofit from previous consideration (see " Safari SLE upgrade speaker question ") ! I've already planned on Dynamatting the Dutch doors in my M11006, and the aftermarket has more durable multichannel amplifi...

Re: coil and bracket removal
:-k Sorry to revive an old Thread, but I've a bit of a problem with my M11006. I've a new ignition coil waiting to go in and have the nuts removed that secure the bracket (with the coil and the ignition module) to the lower manifold, but the bracket ain't budging. Without a hose bracket that I found...

Re: Proposition 2021 feedback
The M-body facelift of 1996 was to coordinate with the G-Series complete redesign. The 1996 Chevrolet and GMC G-1500 (Design Specification GMT600) had new "handles" (Express and Savana, respectively, superseding Chevy Van and Vandura) and sales literature to match; 1996-2002 base models i...

Re: Montana Newbie Needs Advice on New Engine, Torque Converter, Cam, & 4x4 vs AWD
:yikes: Looks as though ye need a whole new POWERTRAIN. My ideal engine for an outback CM11006 would be the V6-4300 from an S-10/Sonoma. I'm hunting for a new gearbox for my highway-only M11006 and have narrowed it down to the TREMEC® TR-3160B-CH and the MAGNA® PT 7MTI550, but both will require all ...
