^@#*(^%!# Drivers!

I sometimes wonder just how people get their driver's license. Some of these people shouldn't be allowed to WALK let alone drive. I was at a major retailer and was backing out of my parking space -- SLOWLY -- when an elderly lady decided that she wanted to turn into the parking lane where Klementine...

Re: Cheap Fuel Pumps

Reported this to the BBB on their website (bbb.org). Filled out a rather simple form, where I asked for not only the money I paid the 2d mechanic, but part of the money I paid the first one, prorated of course. They replied today that I should expect a reply from the 1st within 10 business days.

Re: Cheap Fuel Pumps

Nothing wrong with the fuel pump at all. The initial replacement was because the original fuel pump had died a natural death after about 180K miles. The second pump (initial replacement) probably didn't die at all; more than likely, it was a victim of the poor electrical repair job and, conceivably,...

Re: Cheap Fuel Pumps

Well, boys & girls, the truth is finally out. The mechanic that installed the fuel pump cut some serious corners. 1. When he installed the new pump, he neglected to use the gasket between the top of the tank and the pump itself. This caused slight contamination of the fuel in the tank as well as...

Just flush the rear heater; then, sit back and enjoy the tropical weather.

Re: Cheap Fuel Pumps

That bridge got here faster than I thought. The darned fuel pump went WAY south just before the North Pole moved next door and brought the polar bears with it. I could've taken the van to the stealership and had to pay for both the hook and the fix ($850!) or a very reputable wrench for $585. He's m...

Re: Random Pics From My Phone

I owned a '73 J7300 (earlier version of J10). Loved how solid the truck was, as well as the accessibility to repair things. The only bad thing in that truck was that lousy Chrysler 360 V8. Some fool put steel oil pump gears in the aluminum timing chain cover. When that engine hit 100K, everything st...

I got PUBLISHED!

I seldom write letters to the editor. But this last Veterans/Remembrance Day, I was motivated to do so. Our local newspaper's policy is to contact the sender to verify that they did send the letter. Well, I got my phone call and I told them that I did send the letter. It was published in our paper. ...

Re: Covering Rear Windows for Camping

When I was reduced to sleeping in my van after being disposessed, I used foam board available at any store. It fits snugly and cuts out the light and insulates as well.

Cheap Fuel Pumps

When I bought this van (98 Stro AWD), there were some problems with the existing fuel pump. As time went on, a can of ether was my constant companion. Finally, the fuel pump went on to the great JY in the sky. I paid my mechanic dearly to replace the pump with, hopefully, the best he could buy. Turn...

Re: Heater won't heat.

Took Klementine back to the mechanic today. I had to pay more money down on the massive funds charged for his labour. While there, I complained about lack of heat. He offered to flush the heater core; I figured, why not If the problem didn't lie there, then, at the very least, I have eliminated one ...

Re: Heater won't heat.

I burped the old girl. Initially, the coolant was at the very top of the rad with little, if any, in the overflow tank. I even stuck a thermometer in the coolant to monitor the temps. The temps in the radiator AFTER the t-stat opened never climbed above 130º. But, there is SOME heat coming out of th...
