Re: Hello from Central Maryland

Welcome to the site.

That one is old enough I'd check the ignition coil. They "leak" sometimes. I usually verify by misting them with water, watching for a light show.

Re: My 2000 AWD 8" Lift from South Florida

Nice looking van.

Do you get it out places where the AWD is needed?

Re: Anyone selling bumpers now?

According to Wikipedia, the Astro is roughly the same width as the 1998 Chevy pickups and they both featured a grill/headlight combo that's fairly flat across where they meet the bumper. Bumpers for these trucks look like a good place to start then add some custom mounts.

Re: 4x4 swap ballpark costs

Starting with a AWD would give you a transmission that a two speed transfer case could be bolted to.

No, not as planned, but it wasn't a terrible trip by any means.

Re: Need shift kit installed!

Depends on how much of the kit is installed too. To do everything the trans has to be dropped, at which point $450 doesn't sound bad. If only the valve body pieces are being installed, it does sound a bit steep, as dropping the valve body isn't that hard.

Re: ihatemybike buys his 8th Astro

I awoke Tuesday to the sound of someone getting out of their vehicle to go to work, then headed in the direction that I thought would lead to restaurants, but I was mistaken and ended up just getting back on the interstate heading east. I ate the last of my snacks while fielding phone support to the...

Re: ihatemybike buys his 8th Astro

Monday I was in the dealership as soon as they opened. Informed them that I had researched the van's fuel system and obtained a correct, quality replacement pump. As per normal, they still had spend about an hour verifying the pump was the issue. Once they started on the install, I headed out to pas...

Re: ihatemybike buys his 8th Astro

Sunday morning, back to the strip for breakfast, then walked to a department store for things I didn't think I'd need on this trip and to the auto parts store that had the pump. Late afternoon I visited the YMCA to get myself clean, then walked north on the strip till it turned residential and then ...

Re: ihatemybike buys his 8th Astro

On Saturday my plan was to burn through miles. Continuing east I entered the Big Horn National Forest. Rounding a curve the engine stumbles and dies, shift to neutral and hit the starter, engine fires and I get back on the gas. Climbing the hill just before the turn for the Cabin Creek Campground th...

Re: ihatemybike buys his 8th Astro

Friday, with two and a half days left before I wanted to be home and Yellowstone NP in front of me I choose to see as much of the park as I could while passing east through it. This lead to me running on the paths at pretty much every feature along my route, with the vast majority of my time on Frid...
